- Mitomycin C is a methylazirinopyrroloindoledione Antineoplastic Antibiotic
- Isolated from the bacterium Streptomyces caespitosus
- Mitomycin C is more toxic to hypoxic cells
- Bioreduced Mitomycin C inhibits DNA synthesis (as well as RNA and Protein synthesis)
- Generates free radicals
- Alkylates DNA
- Induces DNA interstrand cross-links

VI. Adverse Effects
- Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome
- Alopecia
- Severe skin and soft tissue necrosis on extravasation
- Idarubicin is a strong Vesicant (causes Blistering)
- Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome
- Myelosuppression
- Nephrotoxicity
