II. Indications
- Fascioliasis
- Liver Fluke or Flatworm Infection
III. Medications
- Triclabendazole 250 mg tablets
- May be taken whole or divided
- May be crushed and mixed with apple sauce (take within 4 hours)
IV. Mechanism
- Antihelminth in the benzimidazole family of drugs
- Binds beta-tubulin and prevents microtubule polymerization
- Inhibits Helminth reproduction and survival
V. Dosing: Adult (and child age >=6 years)
- Triclabendazole 10 mg/kg orally with food every 12 hours for 2 doses
