III. Contraindications
- Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 4 (GFR <30 ml/min)
- Severe liver disease (Child-Pugh Score 10 or more)
IV. Dosing
- Take 8 mg daily with food
- Limit dose to 4 mg daily if GFR 30-50 ml/min
V. Adverse Effects
- See Selective Alpha-1a Antagonist
- Postural Hypotension (esp. when combined with Antihypertensives)
- Floppy Iris Syndrome
- Ejaculatory Dysfunction (class effect)
VI. Drug Interactions
- Avoid all Selective Alpha-1a Antagonists with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g. Ketoconazole, Clarithromycin, Itraconazole, Ritonavir)
- Avoid Silodosin with strong P-Glycoprotein Inhibitors
