  1. Hypertension
  2. Congestive Heart Failure
  3. See Thiazide Diuretic

III. Dosing: Adults

  1. Start: 1.25 to 5 mg orally daily
  2. Maximum: 5 mg/day

IV. Efficacy

  1. Preferred over Hydrochlorothiazide
    1. Longer Half-Life (24 hours)
    2. May have cardiovascular benefit in elderly (CHF, CVA)

V. Pharmacokinetics

  1. Onset of activity 1 to 2 hours
  2. Duration >24 hours
