- Ethacrynic Acid is the only Loop Diuretic that is not a Sulfonamide
III. Mechanism

IV. Dosing: Adult
- Oral
- Start: 25 mg orally daily
- Increase to 50 mg orally twice daily after first day
- Increase to 100 mg orally in the AM and 50 to 100 mg orally in PM
- Maximum: 200-400 mg divided twice daily
- Onset: 30 minutes
- Duration: 6 to 8 hours
- Intravenous
- Infusion concentration: 50 mg/ml
- Start: 0.5 to 1 mg/kg IV slowly over 20 to 30 minutes
- Maximum: 100 mg/dose
- IV Dose in 2023 costs $2500 in U.S.
- Onset: 5 minutes
- Duration: 2 hours
V. Dosing: Child
- Not FDA approved for use in children, and avoid in infants
- IV: 1 mg/kg IV
