II. Indications
- Acute Myocardial Ischemia (Angina Pectoris)
- Exertional or rest Angina
III. Precautions
- Do not take more than 3 Nitroglycerin doses in 15 minutes
- Seek immediate attention (call 911):
- Anginal pain not improved after the first Nitroglycerin after 5 minutes
IV. Preparations

Nitroglycerin Sublingual (0.15 to 0.6 mg)
- Sublingual 0.4 mg prn Angina up to 3 in 15 minutes
- One tablet may be used preventively before activity expected to cause Angina
- Costs roughly 40 cents per tablet
- Sublingual tablets are now good until expiration bottle (even after opening)
- Formulation lasts 2 years from manufacture date
- Assumes the bottle is kept capped, at room Temperature
- Older formulations in the distant past needed replacement every 6 months
- Nitroglycerin Spray (0.4 mg/spray)
- Nitroglycerin Powder (single dose packet)
- Open packet and pour under Tongue up to 3 in 15 minutes
- Expensive ($7 per packet in 2016)
