- Antseptics are applied prior to procedures in which the skin is broken
III. Preparations
- Chlorhexidine (Hibiclens)
- Often preferred as Topical Anesthetic prior to procedures
- Avoid Chlorhexidine near eyes (irritation) and inside ear canal (ototoxic)
- Povidone Iodine (Betadine)
- Not affective until it dries
- Isopropyl Alcohol 70%
- Hydrogen Peroxide
