III. Mechanism

  1. Imidazole Antifungal
  2. As with other azoles, inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol (key component of fungal cell wall)
    1. Blocks sterol 14-a-dimethylase (microsomal Cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme)

IV. Medications

  1. Cream: 1%
  2. Lotion: 1%

V. Dosing: Superficial Dermatophyte Infections (e.g. Tinea Pedis, Tinea Cruris, Tinea Corporis and Tinea Versicolor)

  1. Apply once to twice daily (once daily in Tinea Versicolor)

VI. Safety

  1. Pregnancy Category B
  2. Unknown safety in Lactation
