  2. Follow low tyramine diet and avoid Sympathomimetics, Serotonergic Medications
  3. MAO Inhibitors are not first-line agents for Mood Disorders

III. Indications

  1. Refractory Major Depression

IV. Dosing: Major Depression

  1. Start: 10 mg orally three times daily
  2. Titrate by 10 mg/day increases every 1 to 3 weeks as needed and as tolerated
  3. Maximum: 60 mg per day (30 mg orally twice daily)

  2. Tranylcypromine is a non-hydrazine MAO Inhibitor which irreversibly blocks MAO nonselectively (MAO-A and MAO-B are both affected)
