IV. Criteria

  1. Score: 3.5: Numbness primarily in the Median Nerve distribution (volar thumb, index, middle, ring fingers)
  2. Score 4.0: Nocturnal numbness often interfering with sleep (or awakening patient from sleep)
  3. Score 5.0: Thenar atrophy or weakness (<=4/5)
  4. Score 5.0: Phalen Test Positive
  5. Score: 4.0: Tinel Sign Positive
  6. Score 4.5: Loss of 2 point discrimination (<=5 mm apart) in a Median Nerve distribution

V. Interpretation

  1. Total score (tallied from 6 criteria above) >=12 suggests Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
