III. Technique: Time and Change Test
- Show patient a clock face set to 11:10 and ask the time
- Time the response and allow for up to one minute
- Allow patient 2 tries for a correct response
- Change making
- Set patient up with supply of loose change
- Quarters: 3
- Dimes: 7
- Nickels: 7
- Ask patient to put together one dollar in change
- Time the response and allow up to two minutes
- Better sensitivity if limit response to 12 seconds
- Allow patient 2 tries for a correct response
- Set patient up with supply of loose change
IV. Interpretation
- Negative: Correct response on both tests
- Positive: Incorrect response on either test
- Requires complete Dementia Screening
