II. Pathophysiology
- Associated with topical agent use >5-7 days
- Tachyphylaxis associated with medications
- Nasal Decongestants (Afrin, Neo-Synephrine)
- Nasal spray preservative Benzalkonium chloride
- Other associated medications
III. Symptoms
- Rebound nasal Congestion after nasal Decongestant
IV. Signs
- Fiery red edema at nasal mucosa
V. Management
- Intranasal Steroid (e.g. Vancenase)
- Withdrawal of nasal Decongestant
VI. Prevention
- Avoid prolonged use of nasal Decongestants
