II. Indications: Highly effective Contraception where pregnancy risk is too high

  1. Poorly controlled diabetes (increased risk of major Congenital Anomaly)
  2. Severe macrovascular and microvascular complications

III. Management

  1. Oral Contraceptives with low-dose Estrogen and less androgenic Progestin
    1. Avoid in vascular disease or microvascular disease, or in Diabetes Mellitus >20 years
  2. Intrauterine Device (Copper-T IUD or Levonorgestrel IUD)
  3. Progestin-Only Pill (lower efficacy)
  4. Avoid Depo Provera
