- Osteochondritis Dissecans of Talus (Talar OCD)
- Traumatic defect in articular surface of talus
- Small area necrotic bone formation (Usually medial)
III. Epidemiology
- Adolescence or young adulthood
IV. Symptoms
- Persistent symptoms of "Ankle Sprain" that won't heal
- Gradual onset with distant history of ankle injury
- Painful limp
- Chronic swelling in ankle with activity
V. Signs
- Examine ankle with foot in plantar flexion
- Point tenderness over articular surface of talus
- Restricted Ankle Range of Motion

- Necrotic fragment at joint
- Bone scan
- Ankle MRI
VII. Management
- Nondisplaced fragment
- No weight bearing until lesion heals
- Cast immobilization often needed
- Persistent symptoms or fragment detachment
- Surgical removal of necrotic fragment
