- Most common Protozoan infection in industrialized countries, worldwide
- More common in children
III. Pathophysiology
- Intestinal flagellate related to trichomonads (Trichomonas), and not related to amoebas
- Fecal-oral transmission
- Most commonly found in the trophozoite form
- Typically in the Large Bowel or passed in the stool
IV. Symptoms
- Often asymptomatic
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal Pain
- Pruritus Ani
