II. Medications

  1. Ocular Antihistamine
    1. Alcaftadine (Lastacraft, OTC as of 2022) 0.25% one drop in each eye daily
    2. Azelastine 0.05% one drop twice daily
    3. Bepotastine (Bepreve) 1.5% 1 drop each eye twice daily
    4. Epinastine (Elestat) 0.05% 1 drop each eye twice daily
    5. Naphazoline (Vasocon, Naphcon) 1 drop twice to four times daily prn
  2. Ocular Mast Cell Stabilizer
    1. Cromolyn Sodium (Crolom) 1 drop 4-6 times per day
    2. Lodoxamide 0.1% (Alomide) 1-2 drops each eye four times daily
    3. Olopatadine 0.1% (Patanol, OTC in 2020) 1-2 drops each eye twice daily
    4. Olopatadine 0.2% (Pataday) 1 drop once daily
    5. Olopatadine 0.7% one drop once daily
    6. Ketotifen 0.025% (Alaway OTC, Zaditor) 1-2 drops each eye twice daily
      1. Less expensive and over-the-counter
      2. Ketotifen embedded in Acuvue Theravision Contact Lenses as of 2022 for comorbid Allergic Conjunctivitis
  3. Antihistamine-Decongestant
    1. Contraindications
      1. Avoid in Narrow Angle Glaucoma
    2. Naphazoline and Pheniramine maleate
      1. Brand Names: Opcon-A, Naphcon-A
      2. Dose: 1-2 drops q4h up to qid
