- Snapping Sensation with hip movement
- Pain related to snapping in only 33% of cases
III. Causes: Extra-articular of Snapping Hip
- Tendon snaps over greater trochanter of hip (lateral)
- Iliotibial band
- Tensor Muscle of fascia lata
- Gluteus Medius
- Iliopsoas Tendinitis at iliopectineal eminence (medial, deep)
- Inflamed Nodule snaps over pelvic brim
- Tendon or ligament snaps over ischium
- Iliofemoral ligament
- Long head of biceps femoris
IV. Causes: Intra-articular of Snapping Hip
- Synovial chondromatosis
- Loose bodies in Hip Joint
- Osteocartilaginous exostoses
- Labral tear
- Inverted labrum
V. Management
- Identify source
- Correct biomechanical abnormalities
- Initiate Stretching of tightened Muscles
- Consider Corticosteroid Injection for Bursitis
- Surgery rarely indicated except for loose bodies
