- Patient identifies their typical stool appearance
III. Types
- Type 1: Hard, nut-like stool lumps (difficult passage)
- Type 2: Sausage-shaped, lumpy stool
- Type 3: Sausage-shaped stool with cracked surface (not lumpy as in Type 2)
- Type 4: Snake-shaped, smooth, soft, stool
- Type 5: Soft blobs of easily passed stool with clear-cut edges
- Type 6: Mushy, fluffy stool pieces with ragged edges
- Type 7: Liquid stools with no solid pieces
