- Patient stands
- Examiner taps the long saphenous vein at the level of the medial knee
- Examiner palpates over saphenofemoral junction
- Medial thigh, just below the inguinal ligament
- Examiner feels for palpably transmitted impulse (positive test)
IV. Interpretation: Positive Test
- Palpable impulse indicates valve incompetence along the long saphenous vein
