III. Interpretation
- Positive findings define toxic or ill-appearance and increase risk of Occult Bacteremia
- All negative findings has Negative Likelihood Ratio of 0.1 (low serious infection risk)
- Assumes no serious underlying chronic disease
- Assumes no regular medical interventions
- No Hemodialysis
- No ongoing intravenous therapy
- No indwelling catheter
IV. Signs: Behavior change
- Decreased activity
- Does not interact with parents or environment
- Weak eye contact
- Irritability
- Lethargy or other Altered Level of Consciousness
V. Signs: Cardiopulmonary
- Cyanosis or other signs of poor perfusion
- Hyperventilation, hypoventilation or other signs of respiratory distress (e.g. grunting)
- Hypotension
- Tachycardia
VI. Signs: Miscellaneous
- Seizures
- Hypotonic
- Petechial rash
- Meningeal Irritation
- Bulging Fontanelle
