- Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (Pruritus in all cases)

Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy
- Affects 0.5% of women in third trimester
IV. Symptoms: Pruritus
- Intense itching worse at night
- Location (initial)
- Hands and feet
- Pressure areas
V. Signs
- Hyperpigmentation in areas of heavy scratching
- Spares midback resulting in butterfly-shaped rash
VI. Management

Cholestyramine (or Colestipol if Constipation limited)
- Has also been used in Pruritus of pregnancy

Ursodeoxycholic Acid
- Used in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (intense itch)

- May be indicated in refractory cases
- Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors
