III. Criteria: Assign each of the nine regions a score of 1 (mild) to 4 (severe) based on a grid of pictures

  1. Upper lip
  2. Chin
  3. Upper chest
  4. Upper Abdomen
  5. Suprapubic
  6. Anterior arms
  7. Anterior thighs
  8. Upper back
  9. Lower back

IV. Interpretation

  1. Normal
    1. Score <8: White or black women in U.S. and Britain
    2. Score <6: South American Women
    3. Score <2: Asian Women
  2. Mild Hirsutism
    1. Score above lower bounds (defined by ethnicity above) and score <15
  3. Severe Hirsutism
    1. Score >15
