III. Technique
- Percutaneous introduction of catheter that is introduced into each renal artery
- Catheter is applied to each of several areas along the renal artery course
- Deliver radiofrequency current to ablate Sympathetic Nerves that course along the surface of the renal arteries
IV. Efficacy
- Systolic Blood Pressure drops by 20-30 mmHg at one year
V. Adverse Effects
- Renal artery dissection
- In initial studies, occurred in 2 of 500 patients
- Treated effectively with emergent stenting
