III. Mechanism
- Placental Alpha Microglobulin-1 Rapid Immunoassay (PAMG-1 Protein Marker Assay)
- PAMG-1 is 1000 to 10,000 times more concetrated in amniotic fluid than in cervical or vaginal secretions
IV. Technique
- No vaginal exam should be done prior to testing
- Sterile Dacron swab is placed at the posterior vaginal fornix for 1 minute
- Swab is placed in solvent vial for 1 minute
- Test strip is placed in solvent and result is available in 5 minutes
V. Efficacy
- Test Sensitivity: 95.7%
- Test Specificity: 100%
- Contrast with Test Sensitivity of 78.1% for combined standard methods
