- Limited to pre-pubertal children
III. Symptoms
- Recurrent, episodic Parotid Gland swelling and pain
- Prodromal symptoms
- Fever
- Malaise
IV. Signs
- Parotid Gland tenderness and swelling
- Unilateral in most cases (but can be bilateral)
V. Management
- Hydration
- Parotid Gland massage
- Warm compresses to parotid region
- Lemon drops and other sialagogues
- Antibiotics (e.g. Augmentin, Clindamycin)
- Otolaryngology consult
- Sialendoscopy may be indicated
