- Foreign body may lodge in multiple soft tissues- Lid
- Orbit
- Eyeball
 
- Immediate risks are to eyeball damage- Depth of penetration is key
 
IV. Management
- Immediate removal of penetrating foreign body- Best performed by ophthalmologist- Risk of globe penetration
 
 
- Best performed by ophthalmologist
- Transport to ophthalmologist with eye protected- Paper cup is taped over eye
- Avoids pressure on foreign body against eye
