- Age under 40 is more typical
III. Symptoms
- Focal pain and swelling at the second or third costochondral margin
IV. Signs
- Visible swelling and tenderness at the second or third costochondral margin
V. Causes
- Rheumatologic Disease
- Infection typically associated with chest wall Trauma- Surgical or Stab Wounds
- Intravenous Drug Abuse
 
- Cancer- Primary tumor of the rib or lung
- Metastatic disease
