II. Precautions: Nasal Ala Laceration
- Close approximation is critical to a good cosmetic result
- Close each layer (mucosa, cartilage and skin) individually
- Consider plastic surgery for closure if there is any step-off or deformity
III. Preparation: Regional Anesthesia
IV. Technique: Nasal Ala Laceration Repair
- Step 1: Mucosa closure
- Close with Absorbable Suture (fast absorbing gut or chromic Suture)
- Step 2: Cartilage closure
- Close with 5-0 or 6-0 nylon or monocryl
- Requires close approximation (analogous to lip vermilion border)
- Use a keystone or stay stitch to best approximate the edges
- Step 3: Skin closure
