- Developmentally inappropriate fear of separation from an attachment figure, lasting at least 4 weeks
- Associated with Clinically Significant distress or impaired functioning
- Associated diagnostic criteria (at least 3 criteria present)
- Recurrent, excessive distress when anticipating or experiencing separation
