- Testicular Trauma
III. Contraindications
- Local infection
- Coagulopathy
- Distorted or abnormal regional anatomy
IV. Complications
- Local bleeding
- Infection
- Misplaced needle and Anesthetic
- Failed Anesthesia
- Spermatic Cord Block does not anesthetize the scrotal skin
V. Preparation
- Syringe 10-20 ml
- Appropriate needle for depth (e.g. 27 gauge 1.25 inch)
- Skin antiseptic (e.g. Chlorhexidine)
- Anesthetic (5-15 ml)

Ultrasound Guidance (preferred)
- High frequency linear probe
- Sterile Ultrasound probe cover
VI. Technique
- Obtain procedure consent
- Landmarks
- Anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
- Pubic tubercle
- Injection site is 1 cm medial and inferior to the pubic tubercle
- Clean, drape and prepare the site
- Apply antiseptic (e.g. Chlorhexidine)
- Insert needle directed toward landmark (ideally with Ultrasound guidance)
- Avoid injecting directly into nerve
- Surround the nerve under Ultrasound guidance with 5-15 ml Anesthetic
