- Synthetic pyridine derivative Anesthetic used for Local Anesthesia for urinary tract irritation or Dysuria

- OTC Tabs: 95 mg, 97.2 mg
- Generic Rx: 100 mg, 200 mg

- Renal excretion
VII. Dosing
- Adult (and child age >12 years): 200 mg orally three times daily after meals (for up to 2 days)
- Child (age 6 to 12 years): 12 mg/kg/day divided three times daily for up to 2 days
VIII. Adverse Effects
- Discolors body fluids yellow-orange-red
- Including tears with staining of Contact Lenses (and stain clothing)
- Skin and Sclera may also have a yellow-orange tint
- Blood disorders
- Carcinogenic (possible)
- Carcinogenic in rats as of 1981, and considered possibly carcinogenic in humans
- Has been used since 1930 (predating FDA regulation)
