III. Medications: Montelukast
- Tablets 10 mg
- Oral granules 4 mg
- May be mixed with other foods (not with liquids) and taken within 15 minutes
- Chewable tablets 4 mg, 5 mg
- Containdicated in Phenylketonuria (contain Phenylalanine)
IV. Dosing

Asthma or Allergic Rhinitis
- Adults: 10 mg orally at bedtime
- Child age 6 to 14 years: 5 mg orally at bedtime
- Child age 2-5 years: 4 mg orally at bedtime
- Exercise-Induced Bronchospasm (EIB)
V. Mechanism
- Attenuates bronchoconstriction and inflammation

Leukotriene Receptor Antagonist (competitive inhibitor at D4 and E4 receptors)
- Similar to Zafirlukast (Accolate)
- Contrast with Leukotriene Synthesis Inhibitor (Zileuton or Zyflo)
