- Represents 17% of Oral Lesions

Prevalence
- Palatal: 20-35%
- Mandibular: 7-10%
- Peaks over age 30 years
- More common in women
- Hereditary
III. Pathophysiology
- Common developmental exostosis (cortical outgrowth) onset as teen, and grows as an adult
IV. Signs
- Bony, Lobulated outgrowth
- Distribution
- Palatal Torus
- Midline of Hard Palate
- Mandibular Torus
- Palatal Torus
V. Differential Diagnosis
- Nodule not in the midline Hard Palate suggests other diagnosis (evaluate for cancer)
VI. Management
- Benign and requires no treatment
- Indication for surgical resection
- Difficult to fit dentures and other oral appliances
- Chronic, recurrent irritation or ulceration with hard food intake
- Bone graft harvesting for dental surgery
