  1. Study doses vary from 70-500 mg before Exercise to 500 mg orally daily

IV. Efficacy

  1. May improve athletic performance
    1. May be ineffective in elite athletes (with already optimized oxygen utilization)
    2. May improve aerobic performance
    3. May increase muscular endurance and power output
    4. May decrease post-ExerciseMuscle soreness
  2. Variable effects on cardiovascular parameters
    1. May mildly reduce Blood Pressure (but may not consistently improve Blood Pressure in Hypertension)
    2. May improve Cholesterol levels in dyslipidemia

V. Adverse Effects

  1. Urine or stool red discoloration

VI. Safety

  1. Unknown safety in pregnancy and Lactation (avoid supplements)
  2. Appears safe and tolerable in short-term studies

VII. Drug Interactions

  1. CYP3A4 Inhibitor
    1. May increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates (e.g. Citalopram, Sildenafil)
