- Mechanical Bowel Obstruction
- Children (esp. age < 6 years)
- Increased risk of severe Dehydration
IV. Mechanism
- Locally acting Sodium-Hydrogen exchanger 3 Inhibitor (NHE3 Inhibitor)
- Increases intestinal fluid secretion
V. Dosing
- Very expensive ($1500/month in 2022)
- Take 50 mg orally twice daily immediately before breakfast and supper
VI. Efficacy
- May reduce Abdominal Pain and improve stool frequency (NNT 9 to 12)
- Similar efficacy as Lubiprostone and Linaclotide
VII. Adverse Effects
- Abdominal Distention
- Flatulence
- Dizziness

Diarrhea (16% of cases, severe in 2.5% of cases)
- Hold for severe Diarrhea
