- Assess whether a patient will live long enough to benefit from a specific screening measure or medical intervention
- Criteria
- Age (5 year increments from 60 to over 85 years old)
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Cancer
- Chronic lung disease
- Heart Failure
- Body Mass Index (<25 kg/m2)
- Current Tobacco use
- Functional capacity
- Difficulty bathing
- Difficulty managing finances
- Difficulty walking several blocks
- Difficulty pushing or pulling heavy objects
