II. Type: Level I Trauma Center
- Comprehensive regional resource of tertiary Trauma care
- Provides total care for every injury aspect (including prevention and rehabilitation)
- Manages all injury levels regardless of severity (meets an annual minimum of severely injured patients)
- All specialties and services are emergently available (including 24-hour in-house general surgery)
III. Type: Level II Trauma Center
- Initiates definitive care for all injured patients
- Manages most injury levels
- Transfer to Level I Trauma Center for certain tertiary level services (e.g. cardiac surgery, microvascular surgery)
- Most specialties and services are emergently available (including 24-hour in-house general surgery)
IV. Type: Level III Trauma Center
- Provides prompt assessment, Resuscitation, Intensive Care, stabilization and emergent surgical intervention of injured patients
- Emergency care is always immediately available with prompt general surgery and Anesthesia response
- Transfers Trauma patients needing higher level care to Level I or Level II Trauma Centers
