  1. Chronic Idiopathic Constipation
  2. Constipation Dominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome

III. Contraindications

  1. Children
  2. Renal Failure
  3. Mechanical Bowel Obstruction

IV. Mechanism

  1. Selective Serotonin 4 Receptor Agonist (5HT4 Agonist)
    1. Prokinetic that stimulates colonic peristalsis

V. Dosing

  1. Take 2 mg orally once daily
  2. Decrease dose to 1 mg/day in eGFR <30 ml/min

VI. Adverse Effects

  1. Headache
  2. Nausea
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Abdominal Pain

VII. Safety

  1. Unknown safety in pregnancy
  2. Unknown safety in Lactation
