- Indications
- Contaminated wounds
- Skin Abscess
- Wounds with risk of distortion after anesthetic injection (e.g. vermilion border)
- Efficacy
- Advantages
- Field anesthesia may have longer duration than simple wound infiltration
- Does not distort lesion landmarks
- Disadvantages
- May require larger amounts of anesthetic
- May fail to provide adequate anesthesia in regions of complex innervation (nose)
