- Artifact
- Skin fold
- Extend beyond rib margins
- Only one definable edge
- Fade gradually into tissue without abrupt termination
- Interpretation: Perfectly horizontal lines - Air-Fluid interface
- Lung
- Lung Abscess
- Does not extend to chest wall
- Same diameter on PA and lateral
- Cyst
- Pleural Space
- Hydropneumothorax
- Empyema
- Extends to thoracic limit
- Disproportionately lengthy in one projection
