Antithrombin III (C0003438)

Definition (MSH) A plasma alpha 2 glycoprotein that accounts for the major antithrombin activity of normal plasma and also inhibits several other enzymes. It is a member of the serpin superfamily.
Definition (NCI) Antithrombin-III (464 aa, ~53 kDa) is encoded by the human SERPINC1 gene. This protein is involved in the negative regulation of serine proteinase activity during blood coagulation.
Definition (CSP) blood glycoprotein which inhibits thrombin and other blood coagulation factors; important to maintenance of normal blood fluidity.
