- Acne Vulgaris
- Preparations
- Erythromycin gel, solution or ointment 2%
- Erythromycin with Benzoyl Peroxide gel (Benzamycin) 3%/5%
- Directions
- Apply to clean skin bid morning & evening
- Often used with a Comedolytic (e.g. Retin A)
- Adverse Effects
- Usually well-tolerated
- Skin irritation is common
- Local erythema
- Skin peeling
- Skin dryness
- Pruritus
- Burning
- Disadvantages
- Resistance develops in 25% of patients within 6 months
- Use in combination with Benzoyl Peroxide (e.g. Benzamycin or seperate preparations)
