II. Indications

  1. See Tetanus Prophylaxis
  2. Largely replaced in U.S. by Tetanus Vaccines that contain diptheria and Pertussis (Tdap Vaccine)
  3. Use DTaP Vaccine instead for children under age 7 years
  4. Use Tdap Vaccine instead for teens over age 11 and adults under age 65 years old

III. Dose

  1. Adult 0.5 ml IM
  2. Interval
    1. Low risk patients: every 8-10 years
    2. Risk of repeat exposure: every 5 years
  3. Warming Vaccine in hands does not reduce pain
