  1. Maternal Hormones are present in males and females following delivery and for the first few months
  2. Effects of maternal Hormones
    1. Vaginal Bleeding
      1. Occurs in up to 3% of girls peaking by day 5 and resolving within 1 week
      2. Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding should prompt Coagulopathy evaluation
    2. Breast buds
      1. Form within first week of life in both male and female newborns
      2. Persists for >1 month in 25% of females and 5% of males
      3. Asymmetry of up to a 1 cm difference is normal
      4. Milky discharge may occur
      5. Distinguish from Breast Abscess
