III. Mechanism
- Topical Antibiotic extracted from Pseudomonas fluorescens
- Inhibits Bacterial Protein synthesis
- BInds reversibly and specifically to Bacterial isoleucyl tRNA synthase
- Active against Gram Positive Bacteria, Streptococcus and Staphylococcus (including MRSA)
IV. Dosing
- May be used in age 2 months and older
- Available as 22 g tube (ointment is less expensive than creams)

Impetigo
- Apply Mupirocin 2% ointment three times daily to affected area for 7-10 days
