III. Criteria (Score 1 point for each)

  1. Cough absent
  2. Feverishness (tactile warmth) in the prior 24 hours
  3. Intensely inflamed Tonsils
  4. Purulent Tonsils (e.g. exudate)
  5. Presentation within 3 days of symptom onset

IV. Interpretation

  1. Points 0 to 1: Low Risk for Streptococcal Pharyngitis (1 to 10%)
  2. Points 2 to 3: Moderate Risk for Streptococcal Pharyngitis (11 to 35%)
  3. Points 4 to 5: High Risk for Streptococcal Pharyngitis (51 to 53%)

V. Efficacy

  1. Similar efficacy to Modified Centor Criteria
  2. Does not differentiate between Group A and Group C Streptococcal Pharyngitis
